Bianca and Zayyenna are Special Olympics Youth Leaders from South Africa who will lead a Youth Innovation Project hosting Special Olympics Unified Leadership workshops that unite Special Olympics Youth Leaders with and without intellectual disabilities in the Gauteng Province.
Through their project, they hope to establish new Unified Schools, expand programming at current Unified Schools, and recruit new young people to join the Special Olympics movement. Bianca and Zayyenna’s project will educate Special Olympics Youth Leaders about Unified Leadership and then train local Athlete Input Council members about the leadership model. Bianca and Zayyenna believe their project will provide Special Olympics Youth Leaders with additional tools needed to help them inspire others to join the Unified Generation and spread messages to create inclusive communities in South Africa.

Over nine months, Bianca and Zayyenna will lead 14 Special Olympics Youth Leaders with and without intellectual disabilities through a Unified Leadership training series. Following the training, Bianca and Zayyenna will work with their local Special Olympics South Africa office to expand Unified Leadership education in the province. By educating community leaders about Unified Leadership, they hope to create additional opportunities to implement Unified Sports in schools and communities within the province.
