Yasmine and Jyhane are Special Olympics Youth Leaders from Morocco who were inspired by their love of Special Olympics to lead a Youth Innovation Project that allow youth with and without intellectual disabilities to interact through diverse and interactive activities.

They will host inclusive workshops and games so that inclusion will spread through society and give youth the chance to connect as though they’re siblings. Yasmine and Jyhane envision using this project as their contribution to creating a more tolerant and accepting society.

Over a period of six months, Yasmine and Jyhane will engage 60 new Youth Leaders in the inclusive planning process of the project, where they will organize and thereafter take part in inclusive workshops like cooking, gardening, martial arts and more. A few of these Youth Leaders will facilitate each workshop to make sure it’s fun and that the Special Olympics message is conveyed and understood. Ultimately, Yasmine and Jyhane hope participating Youth Leaders will be inspired to repeat this process with other youth groups and ensure the sustainability and continuity of the project. Yasmine and Jyhane believe this will spread inclusion among young Moroccans so it becomes a normal part of their lives.
