Maximilian S. and Maximilian W. are hosting a Unified dance workshop event where dancers with and without disabilities will learn new skills together.

About the Project Leaders

Maximilian S. is a 24-year-old student pursuing his Masters degree in Applied Artificial Intelligence in Germany. He has been involved with Special Olympics for over 1 year as a Unified Partner, and most recently served in Special Olympics Berlin's Youth Summit. Maximilian believes that with projects like these, inclusion is not as far away as it sometimes seems. Though it can feel far away, Maximilian believes that working together will create a more inclusive society.

Maximilian W. is an 18-year-old student in the Förderzentrum St. Martin, GER. He has been involved with Special Olympics for over 1 year as a Unified Partner, and most recently served on Special Olympics Berlin's Youth Summit. Maximilian believes that while having fun and participating in sports a unity can be achieved that crosses every border or division.

The Inspiration

There lies a strict border between dance classes with abled and disabled dancers in the community. They believe dance should be for everyone and think it is important that there are classes that young with and without disabilities can attend together.

The Plan

Maxmilian and Maximilian hope to unify both groups of dancers (abled and differently abled) to learn from each other and have fun together. They will have one teacher for both groups, which will show all of the dancers that they all are able to reach the same goal, working together and helping each other. Ultimately, they will create a video of the project and its events to produce a long-lasting memory of this project in their community.

Project Goals

Through their project, Maximilian and Maximilian hope to raise awareness for both Special Olympics and inclusion, unify participants of the same discipline, and to have fun!
