Isa and Trinity are hosting a Unified Sports Day in their school to educate students on inclusion, celebrate athletes' excellence, and have fun in the process!

About the Project Leaders

Isabela (Isa) is a 16-year-old high school student at Brighton High school. She lives in Cottonwood Heights, UT. Isa has played on her school's Unified basketball team throughout her high school years, and she organized her school’s very first Unified prom! Isa became a Youth Leader because she is passionate about helping people become more inclusive. Isa has made some of her favorite memories while spreading the message of inclusion!

Trinity is a 17-year-old from Sandy, UT. She attends Brighton High School, where she is involved with Unified programs and sports. Throughout high school, Trinity has played on the Unified basketball team. She appreciated this experience so much that she decided to pursue Youth Leadership! Trinity is a part of the Unified Generation because she feels that every person deserves to feel included and to have opportunities to develop their skills and talents.

The Inspiration

Isa and Trinity feel strongly that in their school there are so many amazing students who are involved in Unified Sports , and that they deserve to be recognized in front of the school for their talent, courage, and hard work. Athletes for non-Unified Sports are recognized in front of the school community for their excellence and contributions, and Isa and Trinity feel that Unified Sports should be no different.

The Plan

Over the course of their 6-month project, Isa and Trinity will host a Unified Sports Day at school, hold an assembly to spread the message of inclusion. They seek to educate their peers on disabilities, Special Olympics, and Unified Sports by cultivating a spirited environment within their school, and celebrate Unified Sports athletes.

Project Goals

Isa and Trinity hope to educate more students at their school about the program, and to show people in the school community just how impressive Special Olympics athletes are. They want their school to become more inclusive and to treat Special Olympics athletes with the same respect and admiration as other athletes.
