Together, Mirielle and Makenna will lead a Youth Innovation Project harnessing the power of arts to foster creativity, teamwork, and a sense of belonging for youth with and without intellectual disabilities. Mirielle and Makenna will draw from their personal experience with Unified arts to expand their Unified art program to new schools in an effort to build a Unified Generation and improve educational experiences for youth with intellectual disabilities in Southern California.

Over the course of twelve months, Mirielle and Makenna will set out to establish three new Unified Schools, expand programming at seven existing Unified Schools, and engage 23 new Youth Leaders. Through this project, Mirielle and Makenna will grow Unified arts programs at local high schools. The Youth Leaders will integrate pottery, choir, and other visual and performing arts programs for youth with and without intellectual disabilities. Participants will celebrate their hard work at public art displays and choir concert performances. Mirielle and Makenna hope to use this project to inspire inclusion, engagement, and strengthen the Unified Generation.
