Valerie currently lives in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium. She has a Master in Law (2009) and an additional Master in International Law. Starting her career as a lawyer, Valerie now works as Head of Sustainability in an innovative diamond company. Where she has been able to reconnect with her passion for Human Rights and the environment. Thanks to her boyfriend Kris, who is USD for 3x3 Basketball, Valerie got in touch with Special Olympics Belgium in 2009. In the past 13 years, she has become an experienced Unified coach, Unified partner, and, since 2017, a Unified Expert Group member for SOEE. She has played in the Unified team together with Joachim for many years. Her Special Olympics experience differs from Unified to Traditional, and from coaching to Unified Partner - European Games in Antwerp, 2014, Los Angeles, USA, 2015; International tournaments in Germany, Luxemburg; MENA Games, Abu Dhabi, 2018; International Unified Basketball tournament in Munich 2019.
