Throughout my journey as a youth leader one of my goals was to improve my communication skills with other athletes especially because I struggle to speak English. At times, I find it difficult to speak in front of others and find the confidence to talk in front of a large crowd, however Special Olympics has taught me to always try my best to talk to others and put in the hard work to speak up. I now understand how meaningful it can be to speak in front of other youth leaders, with and without disabilities, from all across the globe to give their experiences in Special Olympics.
Being able to go to Washington and learn more about the youth summit was a great milestone in developing this confidence. I got to tell others about Special Olympics Pilipinas and learn more about the youth summit. While I was shy when we first met as a council, I have no overcome this, and can now easily talk with confidence and passion to the team.
