Michele Colaninno is a seasoned global executive with extensive leadership experience across the manufacturing, mobility, and technology sectors. Born in Mantua, Italy, he earned his degree in Business and Economics from the Catholic University of Milan. He serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Piaggio Group, a global leader in two-wheeled mobility that produces well-known brands including Vespa, Aprilia, and Moto Guzzi, and is the founder and Chair of Piaggio Fast Forward, a U.S.-based robotics company.
In addition to his leadership at Piaggio, Michele serves as Chief Executive Officer of Omniaholding S.p.A., a family-controlled holding company that provides strategic direction and maintains a controlling ownership interest in Immsi S.p.A., a publicly traded industrial holding company listed on the Milan Stock Exchange (IMS.MI) with diversified interests in manufacturing, real estate, and finance. He also serves as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the Immsi Group, which oversees the Piaggio Group and maintains investments in several leading Italian industrial enterprises, providing centralized oversight, capital allocation, and long-term strategic management.
Since June 2022, Michele has also served as President of ACEM (Association des Constructeurs Européens de Motocycles), the Brussels-based European motorcycle industry association representing the interests of leading motorcycle and scooter manufacturers worldwide. His work extends beyond the corporate sector to engagement with academic and innovation communities. In 2017, he delivered a lecture at the Harvard University i-lab on the impact of robotics and artificial intelligence on daily life, highlighting the connection between emerging technologies and the Piaggio Group’s design-thinking approach.
The Piaggio Group supported the Special Olympics World Winter Games Turin 2025 through a Milan-based gala fundraising event at Armani/Teatro, where guests bid on unique auction items—including hand-painted Vespa Primavera electric mopeds and helmets designed by renowned artists such as Frank Gehry and Urs Fischer—with proceeds supporting the Games and more than 1,500 athletes from over 100 countries.
