With sadness, disappointment, and deep frustration, Special Olympics International has determined it will not hold the World Winter Games in Kazan, Russia, which were scheduled to begin on 21 January 2023.

World Winter Games Kazan 2022 Logo Revealed
The Special Olympics World Winter Games Kazan 2022 logo was reveal on 5 February, during an event where it was projected on the Kazan, Russia Kremlin UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.

From 22 – 28 January 2022 2,000 athletes and Unified partners from 108 Nations and 3,000 Volunteers from all over the world will gather in Kazan to create acceptance and inclusion through sport, volunteerism, education and health.
Kazan, Russia will host the Special Olympics World Winter Games in 2022 with a key aim of transforming the lives and prospects of people with intellectual disabilities across Russia.
