A Look Back At the 2019 World Games

It’s been a month since the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019. It proved to be one of the largest, most inclusive, most unified, most diverse and most successful World Games in the history of Special Olympics.

It took a lot to bring these Games to life that featured:

  • 200 nations participating, approximately 20 for the first time
  • over 7,500 athletes competing in all 24 Special Olympics sports
  • over 3,000 coaches
  • over 20,000 volunteers

Behind the scenes in Abu Dhabi, a local staff of more than 300 from 47 nations poured their hearts and souls into the event. Watch this video about the planning, behind the scenes action and execution of the largest humanitarian and sports event of the year!
