Sven Albrecht oversees program operations in 58 countries in Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia providing strategic direction and engagement with the public and private sector to raise awareness and gain support. He also leads fundraising efforts for the region.
Sven has been involved with Special Olympics since 2003. Beginning as the Head of Special Olympics National Games for Special Olympics Hamburg. By 2010, he became the National Director of Special Olympics Germany, driving significant growth and expansion. Sven also served as Head of the Local Organizing Committee for the 2023 Special Olympics World Summer Games, one of the most impactful Games in the movement’s history and the first held after the global pandemic.
Sven is a graduate of Kiel University located in Kiel, Germany with a degree in Pedagogy. He lives in Berlin with his wife and two children.
