Yasmin Hassan is a Special Olympics Egypt swimming champion who has won more than 90 medals in different competitions. She is a member of the WadiDegla Club, an institution offering academies in a variety of sports. In 2018, she competed in Special Olympics Regional Games in Abu Dhabi, where she proudly won three gold medals.
Yasmin was trained to be a Health Messenger in December 2021. She completed the training at the Technology Training Center in 2022. Thereafter, she participated in many Special Olympics Egypt health events, including Healthy Athlete screenings, where health checkups were conducted for athletes. During the screening events, she supported her friends as they visited different screening stations and taught them about healthy eating, using practical examples of healthy foods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In addition, she guided them on what to eat before and during sports competitions. She encouraged all athletes to play any kind of sport, emphasizing its health benefits.
Beyond sports and health, Yasmin has been actively engaged in other leadership roles. She was elected to Special Olympics Athlete Input Council in 2021/2022. In 2022, she participated in the first National Youth Leaders Forums. In October 2024, she participated in the first Regional Conference on Unified Champion Schools in Cairo and served as the International Special Olympics Ambassador for Unified Champion Schools across the Middle East and North Africa Region. In the same year, she took part in the Global Virtual Youth & Educator Summit.
Yasmin is a student at the College of Language and Media at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport in Cairo.
