Introduced to Special Olympics Barbados at age 8 (37 years) playing soccer , track and field and later volleyball. At age 18 I was introduced to floor hockey which I have loved ever since.
At age 18 I decided to go back to school to begin to teach the very skills I had learnt while in training. This is when I became an Assistant Coach in various schools and taught my skills in different sports. I also travelled overseasto compete in my first ever Special Olympics World Summer Games in Minesota in 1991. In 1997 I went to the World Winter Games in Canada in which my team was the only team to beat the host country in floor hockey. I had also become an official for my country’s National Games which I attended every year as one of the officials in charge of softball events.
As the Special Olympics motto states, my accomplishments and positive roles as a Caribbean Athlete leaderCouncil member is to bring new ideasand help as much as I can to ensure my athletes have a voice in what they need and want and give my all in whatever I do while working towards those goals. “Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.” He is 45 years old.
