Bakr from Morocco is 19 years old and joined Special Olympics in 2020, inspired by watching a teammate compete at the 2019 World Games in Abu Dhabi. The strength and mutual support he saw in the team left a lasting impression and motivated him to get involved. He began as a football athlete and later became an active member of the Youth Leaders Programs, where he’s had the opportunity to grow, lead, and represent his peers. Bakr also volunteers in his local community, working to promote inclusion and awareness. As a member of the Global Youth Leadership Council, he is proud to raise awareness about the abilities of athletes and support them in reaching their goals. Special Olympics has transformed how he sees himself—helping him become not only an athlete, but a voice for the unheard and a leader committed to making a difference.
