Gunter Van De Sompel

Cycling - Technical Delegate - Belgian Cycling

Gunter Van De Sompel brings extensive experience in cycling, event organization, and Special Olympics sport management. A physical therapist and osteopath by profession, Gunter has experience organizing cycling events and coaching seminars and serves as Belgian Special Olympics Sport Manager for Cycling. He has organized annual National Games, served as Sports Director for the 2014 Special Olympics European Games, and supported previous World Games. Gunter also founded and developed the Special Olympics Cycling Series, integrating cycling opportunities for Special Olympics athletes into major UCI and international events, including the Tour of Flanders, European Road Championships, UCI World Cup Cyclocross, and other elite cycling competitions.
