In-Kyung Kim, Special Olympics Global Ambassador

In-Kyung Kim

Ambassador for Golf

I.K. Kim, a celebrated South Korean golfer, claimed seven LPGA Tour titles, including her sole major championship at the 2017 Women’s British Open, and three Ladies European Tour victories, highlighted by the Dubai Ladies Masters. Renowned for her generosity, she donated her entire US $220,000 prize from the 2010 Lorena Ochoa Invitational to charity, and in 2012, Special Olympics recognized her as a Special Olympics Ambassador. In 2015, she was honored with the Kia Community Assist Award for her philanthropic efforts.

In 2024, after 18 years as a professional, Kim retired at the AIG Women’s Open at St Andrews, feeling it was the right moment to step away after so many years of competition. That it happened to be at St Andrews—the Old Course—made the occasion even more meaningful, connecting her deeply with the golfing community in a way that felt like pure serendipity.

Reflecting on her career, golf has given her countless life lessons, unforgettable memories, and the readiness to embrace her next chapter—sharing her experiences and working to build more inclusive communities around the world.
